Legacy of AAA Discount Floors

Mrs. Nola Melton started Canterbury Distributors, Ltd. with Mr. Carroll Davis in 1980.   As a major Wholesale Distribution Company in the Richmond and surrounding areas, Canterbury thrived.  With Nola's hard work and guidance the company grew from 3 employees to 38, while continuing to service its customer base throughout many states all over the country.  The growth required many positions to be put in place and opened the opportunity to invite members of the Melton family to join, some of who still work for the company to this day, specifically Mark Melton.  Mark, the youngest son of Nola Melton, came to the business with many years of experience in the flooring industry from installation to sales.  He continued to become Canterbury’s Sales and Marketing Manager, among many other responsibilities. 

As time moved on, in 1999 another opportunity for growth and expansion became available. The birth of AAA Discount Floors, the retail division of Canterbury Distributors, Ltd.  This new addition allowed the company to provide the local public and design trade with thousands of carpets, rugs, and flooring products with drastically discounted prices. 

With the addition of AAA Discount Floors, a great deal of support was needed from dedicated employees and family members.  Transitioning into our current business state the ownership of AAA Discount Floors and Canterbury Carpets was transferred to Mark in 2018.   With the growth of both companies Joseph Melton, Nola Melton’s grandson and Mark’s son, joined the family business. During high school, he began his career with the family business, which consisted of working in the warehouse and assisting in the field on installations.  After completing his college education and with his hard work and dedication, he was promoted to General Manager of the retail and wholesale divisions and works daily to satisfy customer needs.
